660,756. Endless-belt conveyers. WALL & SONS, Ltd., T., and STONESTREET, G. A. Oct. 20, 1949. No. 26988/49. Class 78 (i). [Also in Group XIII] Ice cream briquettes are conveyed through a refrigerating chamber on both the forward and return runs of an endless belt 6 to which they are frozen. The extracting and cutting machine described in Specification 595,253, (Group XIII), and diagramatically illustrated at 10, delivers rows of briquettes onto the wide belt 6 intermittently driven by a pulley 4, the hexagonal shape of which ensures that contact is maintained between the briquettes and the belt during their transfer from the forward run to the return run. A hexagonal pulley 5 is arranged to break this contact at the discharge point G where a scraper 20 directs the briquettes, in a single row, onto a lateral conveyer belt 18 which transfers them to a wrapping machine (not shown). An auxiliary belt 2 catches any briquettes which fall from the conveyor 6 and delivers them to a tray 16 from which they are transferred by hand onto the conveyer 18. The belt is made of rubberised canvas, but it may also be made from either American cloth, or thin balata or cotton webbing with a glazed plastic finish. A brush (not shown) may be arranged to remove ice cream remaining in the pores of the belt.
