660,568. Pipe joints. BON, M. June 18, 1947 [Feb. 21, 1944], No. 16060/47. Class 99 (i). Packing 4 is compressed above a slightly tapered split ferrule 7 around a swivelling elbow 12, the ferrule being forced into a split tapered bush 10 screwed into the socket 15 by a nut 17 screwing on to the bush. The nut bears on a washer 4, the nut, washer, and ferrule having notches or projections to prevent relative rotation of these parts. Withdrawal of the ferrule is effected on uncoupling by a retaining ring 22. A gasket 16 seals the bush in the socket. The nut is locked by wire through holes 20, 21.
