Abstract

660,423. Relief valves. EKCO PRODUCTS CO. May 19, 1949 [Feb. 9, 1949] 13389/49. Class 135. A safety valve for a pressure vessel, e.g. a pressure cooker, comprises a body 12 mounted in the vessel cover 10 and having a vent passage terminating in a seat 15, and a cap 20 having circumferential ports 21 and forming a guide for the stem 25 of a closure member 26 loaded by a weight 30. Weights 34, 35 may be attached to the weight 30 by screw threads. Vertical movement of the closure member is limited by a ring 32 carried by the weight 30 and engaging a wide groove 31 in the cap. In a modification, the weight 34 is not attached to the weight 30 but has a groove engaged by a ring carried by the weight 35.
