Class 122(v) A labyrinth seal between two relatively rotatable members comprises baffles 3 secured to one member 4 and intially in contact with another member 1 which has formed on the surface opposite the baffles an abrasive surface 2, which laps the crests of the baffles 3 during -relative rotation of the members 1, 4. The abrasive surface 2 may be sprayed on or formed by a plating process.
