Abstract
659,999. Knitting machines. BATA, NARODNI PODNIK. March 16, 1948, No. 7849. Convention date, March 31, 1947. [Class 74 (ii)] A draw-off device for a circular machine knitting a continuous series of articles comprises a truncated conical surface 10 lying under the fabric and revolving with it, against which the fabric is pressed by a wheel 13 mounted on an axis at an angle to that of the cylinder and contacting the fabric in the region of loop formation, relative sliding between the members 10 and, 13 feeding the fabric downwardly. The wheel 13 may be driven positively or by its contact with the fabric. The surface 10 forms part of a bush 8 supported on the sinker ring 3. The wheel 13 which may have a grooved surface 14 of rubber, is raised out of action by a lever 31 which raises the shaft 20 carrying the wheel 13 by operating on a lever 25. Simultaneously the lever 31 depresses a rod 33 carrying a cam surface 34 which withdraws the upper cylinder bolt cam 36 to an inactive position. In multi-feed machines a wheel 13 may be fitted for each knitting position. The point of contact of members 10, 13 may be adjusted relative to the cylinder.
