Abstract

A process for continuously annealing strip steel coated with oil, comprises a heating step carried out in a non-oxidizing atmosphere with the addition of just sufficient air to burn off the oil from the strip without oxidizing the strip, and then a cooling step carried out with a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The heat of combustion of the palm oil supplements the heat delivered to the furnace by electrical means.
