Abstract
A process for the treatment of metal articles prior to a coating operation such as enamelling, characterized in that the metal articles are first of all heated in an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature sufficient to burn off grease covering the articles without modifying the structure of the metal constituting the articles, the articles being then heated in a reducing atmosphere without contact with flames and at a temperature sufficient only to destroy the oxides formed.
