Abstract
659,714. Gas turbine plant. SVENSKA TURBINFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM. Oct. 28, 1949, No. 27711. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1948. [Class 110(iii)] In a unit comprising a gas turbine driving an electric generator 1, one or each of the overhung ends of the generator shaft supports a turbine rotor 18 which receives driving fluid from a producer which comprises a compressor 8, a combustion chamber 9 and a turbine 10 driving the compressor, the producers being supported by the generator. The generator is rigidly supported on the heat exchanger 4 to which the exhaust gases from the turbines pass, and the driving fluid producers are sustained by springs 16. The generator exciter may be mounted at 11 between the generator and a turbine 18, or at the free end 12 of one of the producers, in which case it is driven either by the producer through gearing, or by a turbine 18 by means of a shaft passing through a bore in the producer shaft. The producers may be of different sizes so that the unit may be run at three different outputs.
