Abstract

659,562. Electric motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 1, 1949, No. 27972. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1948. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXII] A resilient mounting- ring adapted to be mounted on a hub having an annular groove formed therein, comprises an annulus of resilient material and a split metallic band, having a projection formed on its inner surface, bonded to the interior surface of the annulus and adapted to be fitted on the hub, the ends of the split band being adapted to separate, permitting assembly of the ring on the hub, the projection on its inner surface being adapted to fit in the hub groove when the ring is mounted on the hub so that when the split band contracts, it fits closely on the hub. In the arrangement shown, as applied to a mounting-ring for an electric motor 1 having a grooved bearing-hub 5, a rubber or the like annulus 9 is bonded to outer and inner split metal bands 10 and 13, respectively, the inner band 13 being formed with a projection 15, which in the assembled position of the ring, engages the groove 7 in the hub 5. A groove 12 in the outer band 10 engages a flange 17 of a support member 16, to which the mounting is secured by means of a strap member 20 which engages latches on the flange 17. The annulus 9 may be provided with a plurality of openings 24, or any other form of opening. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the projection on the inner band 13 is discontinuous. Specification 438,578 is referred to.
