Abstract

1,245,030. Piezoelectric microphones. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 29 Sept., 1969 [30 Sept., 1968], No. 47801/69. Heading H4S. A microphone has a diaphragm 1 (Fig. 1) comprising at least one piezoelectric layer 3, 4 and supported around its periphery by a microphone casing 6. A central damper 10 is mounted centrally on the diaphragm 1 independently of the casing 6, leaving an annular region of the diaphragm 1 unengaged by the damper 10. The damper 10 is dished, having a skirt 13 substantially parallel with the diaphragm 1. The skirt 13 may be annular, with or without corrugations, or formed with radial lugs. Epoxy resin 5 secures the diaphragm 1 to the microphone casing 6.
