Abstract

633,902. Friction gearing. GRANGES, L. Aug. 7, 1947, No. 21684. Convention date, May 21, 1946. [Class 80 (i)] A friction wheel 1 has rings 5 of resilient material such as rubber on its periphery for engagement with the peripheral surface of a driving or driven member 11. These rings are spaced apart by spacing rings 6, or they may be integral at their inner surfaces, or secured to a canvas backing, to provide cooling and ventilating passages and enhance the resiliency of the rings. As shown, the rings 5 and spacers 6 are clamped together on an outer ring 3 fitting on the wheel 1 by a clamping ring 8.
