Abstract

659,220. Electricity supply. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 16, 1949, No. 12993. Convention date, May 15, 1948. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] In a battery-charging system, when the voltage of a generator G becomes sufficient, current through a shunt winding 13 causes the attraction of an armature 7, pivoted at 9, and the completion 'at contacts 4, 5 of a charging circuit from the generator to the battery B which includes two series coils 14, 15, the coil 14 assisting the shunt coil 13 to hold the switch closed against the action of the spring 10 and the coil 15. Contacts 16 are also operated to insert a resistance r into the circuit of the coil 13. Should the generator voltage drop below the battery voltage, the reverse current in the series coil 14 opposes the coil 13 and the switch rapidly opens under the pull of the spring 10 and the coil 15.
