Abstract
659,166. Roofs. BURKWOOD, A. July 7, 1949, No. 17944. [Class 20(iv)] The roof of a lightweight building, e.g. a garage, comprises frameworks which are inclined to meet, or nearly meet, at the ridge, each framework consisting of an L- section member 14, 15 which is welded to, and extends between two end rafter members 11, 12 also of L-section. The vertical flanges 23, 24 of the members 14, 15 are bolted at 17 to a U-shaped ridge member to exclude the weather. In modifications, the flanges 23, 24 are bolted together and one flange of another L-section member whose other flange extends over the flanges 23, 24, or a T-section is bolted between the flanges 23, 24. In Fig. 5 the flanges 23, 24 form a trough in which is bolted an L-section ridge member 22. Two frameworks may form a complete roof or sections of it only.
