Abstract

658,676. Saddle supports. HANKS, H. D. Feb. 15, 1949, No. 4092. [Class 136 (iii)] A saddle adaptor for a pedal cycle comprises a cradle having a central portion 12 to which a saddle 10 can be clamped and portions 13, 14 projecting upwards from the central portion to lie near to the front and rear end of the saddle respectively, a support member comprising a central portion 15 having a saddle pillar 20 projecting downwardly therefrom and adapted to be clamped in a saddle tube 22, and portions 16, 17 projecting upwards in front of and behind, respectively the upwardly projecting portions 13, 14 of the cradle and pivoted thereto at 18, 19 so that the cradle may rock about an axis passing through the upper surface of the saddle. The cradle may be prevented from rocking by a spring-loaded catch 37. The pillar 20 is mounted in a socket 21 which is clamped to the saddle tube 22. A spring 24 urges the pillar 20 upwardly, a stop 25 preventing its ejection from the socket 21. The pillar may be locked in one or more positions within the socket by means of a spring-urged plunger 30 engaging in holes 31 in the pillar 20. To prevent rotation of the member 15 about the axis of the pillar a locating member 33 is fixed to the socket 21 and has a forked member 34 engaging the member 15.
