Abstract

726,407. Cycle supports. HOLMES, L. Oct. 13, 1953, No. 28174/53. Class 136(1). A combined stand and jack for a power assisted bicycle comprises a tube 6 affixable to the rear wheel stays 4, 5 of the bicycle and within which telescopes a spring loaded member 10 carrying a laterally extending ground engaging foot 11 at its end, and means for latching the member 10 against the action of the spring 14. A rod 12 is fixed to the member 10 and extends through a slot 7 formed in the tube 6. The member 10 may be latched in extended position in one of two lateral extensions 8, 9 of the slot 7. When the rod 12 is in the slot 8 the bicycle is supported with both wheels on the ground. Alternatively, the device may be used to jack the back wheel off the ground, the rod 12 being in the slot 9. To return the stand to its inoperative position the rod 12 is moved from the slot 8 or 9 into the main slot 7 so that the rod 10 is returned by the spring 14 to enter a further lateral extension 18. The tube 6 is made fast to a plate 19 to which are attached straps 20, 21, 22 for securing the stand to the stays 4, 5.
