Abstract

658,566. Compressors. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (Aktiebolaget Atlas Diesel). April 11, 1949, No. 9779. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts Feb. 17, 1950]. [Class 8(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A portable compressor having means for receiving driving motion from a running fan belt or the like and having a shank provided with two spaced handles arranged , remotely from the compressor, by which the receiving means is held by hand against the fan belt, comprises a compression cylinder 1 and an integral bearing housing supporting two bearings 11, 12 and a shaft 8 carrying at one end a pulley 10 and at the other a disc 9 to which is attached a cupshaped sheet metal crank pin 6. The cylinder contains a piston 2 (see Group XXVI), which compresses air drawn in through a port 15, delivering it through a valve 17 carried in a cage 18 and pressed by a spring 19. The valve cage communicates with a nipple 20 which when secured by a screwed shank 22 holds the valve assembly in position. A hose 21 connected to the nipple passes through the shank 22 which is formed at the end remote from the compressor with a handle 23 and at an intermediate point a handle 24 is adjustably secured.
