Abstract

658,557. Lock mountings. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. March 28, 1949, No. 8350. Convention date, May 25, 1948. [Class 44] A device for mounting a handle or lock body in an apertured support comprises a sheet metal body formed with an opening in line with an opening of the support and spaced side walls formed with flanges attached to the support, and a screw mounted in one of the side walls exerting a clamping action on the body of the lock positioned in the aligned openings. In the form of Figs. 1 and 2, the flanges 24 are attached to the support P by screws 5 engaging pressed out tongues 26, the heads of the screws being covered by an escutcheon plate 16. One or each of the side walls is provided with pressed out tongues 28 co-operating with the screw 27 bearing against the body 10. In the form of Fig. 6, the flanges 24 have hooks 31 and detents 35 pressed out therefrom for insertion into rectangular openings 3, the hooks engaging the support adjacent the openings 3 and the detents abutting the ends of the openings to prevent unfastening movement. The ends of the hooks are covered by a dished escutcheon plate.
