658,385. Floor blocks. ABBEY, A. (Svenska Tandsticks Aktiebolaget). Sept. 21, 1949, No. 24318. [Class 87 (i)] Laminated boards, in particular for floor coverings, with a parquet-patterned wearing surface are formed by cutting into slabs laminated boards having a wearing layer of bars and then joining the slabs together to form the new boards so that the wearing layer of bars form other patterns than those of the original boards. As shown, a board comprising bars 2 and transverse wearing surface bars 1 is cut into slabs 6, 7, 8, which are then glued together so as to form a new board, having the wearing surface bars 1 disposed as shown. The bars 2 are preferably provided with grooves 3 to obviate warping and with edge grooves 4 to facilitate glueing the slabs 6, 7, 8 with the aid of loose tongues together along the lines 12, 13, 14. Separate boards 9, 10, 11 may also be glued together to form a floor covering. In a modification the original board is provided with edge fillets and the new boards then show the slabs surrounded by the fillets.
