657,918. Aerating liquids. SOC. D'EPURATION ET D'ENTREPRISES, SOC. ANON. March 31, 1949, No. 8782. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1948. [Class 14(i)] [Also in Group XII] Venturi-type aerating apparatus as for sterilizing liquid by ozone &c. comprises a nozzle 4 of a liquid inlet pipe 2 discharging into a tube 6 at the top of a tube 7 extending to the bottom of a column 1 and a surrounding casing 5 to which the gas inlet 3 is connected. A sheath 8 round tube 6 provides a relief passage for the gas-liquid mixture into the column in case of stoppage of the liquid feed pump. Cones 10, 12 with interposed helical fins 11 at the outlet of tube 7 impart a gyratory motion to the liquid rising in the column.
