Abstract
657,745. Electric heating. FEKETEY, A. F. April 28,1950, No. 821. '[Class 39(iii)] An electric induction heating arrangement comprises a conducting or semi-conducting carrier in which heat-producing eddy currents are generated, the carrier being surrounded by or having embedded in it one or more magnetic coils, the carrier being dimensioned on the considerations set forth in Specification 502,082 varied to the extent that the temperature to be considered in the calculations disclosed in the said Specification is now the average temperature during the whole heating operation concerned. The casing of the apparatus may form the magnetic path. The carrier may be a body to be heat-treated. In an example, an immersion heater comprising the magnetic coil or core is surrounded by a coil and arranged to produce heat by ohmic resistance to add to the heat produced by the eddy currents.
