657,184. Endless-chain conveyers. VIDALINC, A. Feb. 8, 1949, No. 3436. Convention date, March 9, 1948. [Class 78 (i)] A mechanical conveyer for ore and like pulverulent or granular material of the type including at least one driven endless scraping and conveying chain the top run of which operates in a conveying channel or the like, wherein the chain driving head or wheel R is positioned above the level of, and in advance of, the length of the top chain run which conveys the material while a downwardly-sloping surface 3 is provided extending between the point of disengagement of the chain run from the driving wheel or head and the input end of the length of the chain run which actually conveys the material, the arrangement being such that the bottom or return chain run which passes back under the channel towards the driving head or wheel is held taut whilst the top chain run conveying the material is slack after becoming disengaged from the driving wheel or head.
