Abstract
656,789. Reciprocating pumps. ASHWORTH, N. I. April 5, 1948, No. 9447. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a reciprocating pump compris ing a cylinder 1 having an inlet valve 2 and a discharge outlet 3 and containing reciprocable tubu lar bucket 4 having a sealing ring 9, 10 at each enc and a non-returr valve 6 at its inle end, the bucket is fitted with cast iron or like meta collars 12 having annular grooves 13 and forming a free sliding metal to metal contact a intervals with the cylinder for substantially the full length of the plunger. The sealing rings are of rubber and an intermediate rubber ring 11 is provided The bucket is connected to the piston rod 14 of a double-acting air motor by a union tube 15 which has a ball and socket connection with the bucket and is enclosed in a rubber casing 17.
