Abstract

390,210. Deep-well pumps. MORRIS, A. G., 31, St. Mary's Road, Golder's Green, London. Oct. 2, 1931, No. 27449. [Class 102 (i).] In a cableoperated deepwell pump the return stroke of the bucket 38 is effected by a spring 45, which is attached to the bucket and is anchored to a pin 47. The cable 18 is attached to the bucket by means of a pin 39 and at the surface passes through a stuffing- box 16 and is secured to an operating crank 21, either directly, or by means of a chain 20. The part of the cable which works through the stuffing- box is protected by a tube 17, and collars may be secured to the cable to prevent rubbing contact with the rising main 10. The pump barrel 31 is of glass held between rings 32, 33. The ring 32 has ports to admit the pressure to the exterior of the barrel. The bucket 38 is in the form of a tube, provided with a cup-leather 42 which works in the barrel, and a valve housing 48 at its lower end. A strainer 57 is provided below the foot valve 55.
