Abstract

972,309. Reciprocating pumps. L. H. GARDNER. Aug. 2, 1961 [Aug. 19, 1960], No. 28064/61. Heading F1A. A compressed air-driven hydraulic pump comprises an air cylinder 14 housing a motor piston 26 with a piston rod 36 extending into a pump cylinder 12 to form the pumping piston, an adjustable stop 60 at the end of the pump cylinder, sealing means between the pump cylinder and the air cylinder, and a passage 72 communicating with the piston rod intermediate the sealing means and the air cylinder to vent leakage liquid. The sealing means comprises a packing gland 76 of corrosion-resisting material. 'O'-rings 80 and 82 are of corrosionresisting material and rubber, respectively.
