656,057. Pneumatic shock absorbers; vehicle spring suspensions. BOURCIER DE CARBON DE PREVINQUIERES, C. M. L. L. June 10. 1947, No. 15246. Convention, date, May 2. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 15, 1947.] [Classes 108(ii) and 108(iii)] A pneumatic shock absorber'comprises an air cylinder a, and a piston b movable therein having an external , diameter very slightly less than the internal diameter of the cylinder to form an annular space c which effects a wire-drawing of the air in its passage from one side of the piston to the other, the piston having integral therein at least one guide disc g or h which is a sliding fit in'the cylinder and which is provided with orifices o or o' respectively of sufficientarea not to cause appreciable damping of the air. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a spring suspension in which a coil spring, which is mounted in series with a hydraulic shock absorber between a vehicle chassis, and a wheel is arranged in a parallel connection with a main suspension spring. The coil spring may be replaced by a rubber block comprising a thick rubber bush or in another arrangement by a rubber bush acting in shear between concentric cylinders, the inner of which comprises the hydraulic shock absorber. In 'other arrangements, the suspension spring is connected in parallel with a pneumatic shock absorber.This subject-matter does not appear 'in the Specification as accepted.
