656,009. Guiding webs. TIMSONS, Ltd., and TIMSON, E. A. Dec. 22, 1948, No. 33049. [Class 100 (i)] In web-guiding mechanism for superimposing, inverting and lining up webs of the kind comprising a plurality of parallel spaced diversion bars or rollers disposed transversely at an angle to the line of travel of the web, holders for the bars or rollers are secured upon concentrically - mounted tubes telescopically movable one within the other for effecting adjustments of the bars or rollers towards or apart from one another without altering their angular disposition. As shown, diverting bars 1 are supported at their ends 1a by holders 4 carried on the ends of telescopic tubes 5, 6, 7 and 8 which are individually adjustable in axial directions to vary individual distances apart of the bars 1. Collars 11 carried at the opposite ends of the tubes 5, 6, 7 and 8 are connected to links 12 pivotally mounted on levers 13 fixed on shafts 14 which may be rotated in either direction through worm gearing or screw means by control shafts 17. The rear ends 1b of the diversion bars are carried by holders 9 slidable on a common guide-rod 10. In a modification, both ends 1a and 1b of the bars may be supported on concentricallymounted telescopic tubes.
