599,121. Table adjustments. TURL, W. G. Oct. 23, 1945, No. 27900. [Class 52(iii)] [Also in Groups XXIII and XXX] A device for moving a table &c. relatively to a base &c. by the employment of interconnecting levers engaging the two members at their opposite ends so as to be movable along them and also pivoting and movable bodily about fixed abutment points on one of the members, which device is applicable for example as a work table for optical apparatus or as a measuring instrument, comprises in the embodiment shown a right-and-left screw 4 extending along the base 1 and rotated by means of central worm gear 6 - 9, the screw 4 operating nut members 11 movable along guide bars 3 and having trunnions 28 for the lower ends of the levers 25 in the upper ends of which are mounted rollers 29 slidably engaging flat bearing surfaces 19 on the table 18 whereby when the screw is operated the levers are caused to ride up on rollers 14 at the ends of the base and raise the table. Pairs of links 20 prevent longitudinal movement of the table. In the application as a measuring instrument the contours of the bearing edges 27 of the levers 25 are such that equal increments of rotation of the operating handwheel 9 represent equal increments of the movement of the table.
