Abstract
655,962. Rotary compressor. PISA, P. Dec. 8, 1948, No. 31801. Convention date, Feb. 2. [Class 110(ii)] Vanes 4 are driven by a shaft 1 to rotate at right angles thereto and are caused to oscillate relatively to each other on pivotal bearings through the action of rollers 5 controlled by substantially frustro-conical cam surfaces 6. Gas to be compressed enters a suction port 9 and is delivered past a non-return valve 14 to a delivery 11. The bore of the working chamber 7, and the tips of the vanes. are part spherical in shape. A cylindrical pivot 3 is secured to the shaft 1 and comprises 'heads 12, secured to inner parts by screws 22, containing elbow-shaped passages 13 through which gas continues to flow after the heads 12 have commenced to close the ports 9, 10. Grooves 15 allow the escape of trapped gas when the vanes are closest together. Delivery is made to a pressure-equalizing reservoir. The rollers 5 are pressed against the guides 6 by small leaf springs 16, each roller being carried on a pivoting arm 18. Packing pieces and rings are provided around the edges of the vanes. Cooling air is circulated through holes 26 by the motion of the vanes. Lubricating oil, from a tank 27, flows through ducts 28, 29, 30, 33.
