655,942. Electric pick-ups. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 18, 1947, No. 19269. Convention date, July 22, 1946. [Class 40 (iv)] An electric pick-up for indicating or recording the instantaneous displacement, velocity or acceleration of vibrating parts comprises an electromechanical transducer and a feedback mechanico - electrical transducer to reduce errors caused by conditions such as fre-. quency or temperature. A crystal 21, Fig. 3, feeds an amplifying valve 30, part of the output of which energizes a moving coil 27 rigidly connected to a rod 22 connected to the crystal, the force exerted by the coil enhancing the effect of the elasticity of the crystal, whereby compensation is made for temperature. In Fig. 4, the output of a moving coil 41 is fed to an amplifying valve 45, the anode circuit of which feeds a second moving coil 42 to damp the velocity of displacement of the first coil, the output across the resistance 47 being proportional to the acceleration of the system relative to the housing. The feed-back increases the range of frequencies at which the device will operate satisfactorily.
