652,130. Damping-arrangements for indicating-apparatus. LORD, F. E. (Aktiebolaget Kontrollinstrument). Sept. 2, 1948, No. 23151. [Classes 106 (ii) and 106 (iv)] The pointer-spindle, or a spindle geared thereto, of instruments such as manometers or speedometers is formed with an enlarged part 19 and is mounted in a flexible U-shaped strip 21, 25 so that vibration of the pointer may be obviated by. axially-directed frictional engagement of the strip with the shoulders of the part 19. The strip is secured to the instrument casing 10 by rivets 23 and the frictional pressure is adjusted by a screw 27 bridging the U. To effect separation of the arms of the U, a collar 28 is provided on the screw or the latter may carry a compression spring. The shoulders of the part 19 may be replaced by collars on the spindle.
