Abstract
566,910. Thermometers. EDWARDS, L. W. C. July 22, 1943, No. 11968. [Class 97 (iii)] In dial thermometers wherein the pointer is actuated by a shaft passing through the stem of the instrument, the shaft being actuated at the end remote from the dial by a bimetallic helix connected at one end to the shaft and at the other end to the stem, the stem is adjustable on the instrument or one part of the stem is adjustable on another part to effect setting of the pointer. As shown, the stem is in two parts 7, 8 which may be relatively adjusted to one another and locked in adjusted position by a lock-nut 14. This has the effect of adjusting the position of the bimetallic element with respect to the dial 1 and so altering the initial position of the pointer 3.
