Abstract

1,033,705. Hydraulic reciprocating motors. DOWTY ROTOL Ltd. Nov. 15, 1963 [Nov. 15, 1962], No. 43265/62. Heading F1A. [Also in Division G3R] In a vibrator device wherein an electric signal generator 51 supplies an a.c. current signal of required frequency to an electro-magnetically actuated valve 12 controlling the flow of liquid to an hydraulic actuator 1,4 whereby the movable cylinder 4 thereof vibrates at that frequency, an electrical feed-back circuit is provided including sensing means 36 responsive to a function of position or load of the movable cylinder 4 and a high pass filter 62 arranged to pass that part of the signal derived from the sensing means 36 which has frequencies higher than the required frequency to the valve 12 or a further valve 13 also operable to control the flow of liquid to the actuator to thus reduce the amplitude of actuator vibrations having frequencies higher than the required frequency. The sensing means 36 may be in the form of a linear inductive transducer comprising a coil 37 having a central conductor 43 and ends 41, 42 connected to an oscillator 57 so that a feed back voltage is produced in a lead 61 which is dependent on the displacement of the cylinder 4 from its central position. The voltage in the lead 61 is fed to the main amplifier 44 to restore the cylinder 4 to a central vibrating position and is also applied to the high pass filter which allows only the higher frequencies to be amplified and supplied to an exciter 35 of the valve 13. The feed back voltage may be provided by a strain gauge on a test piece secured to the cylinder 4 or by a load measuring device disposed therebetween.
