Abstract

852,233. Electric transducers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Feb. 19, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958; Dec. 23, 1958], No. 5734/59. Class 40 (1). In a transducer for measuring force by two perpendicular coils wound on an iron core to which the force is applied so that it distorts the magnetic field produced when one coil is energized, to give an output from the other coil indicative of the magnitude of the force, the core is located in a mounting support which is resilient in one direction only to transmit the component of force in that direction and is rigid to oppose components of force in perpendicular directions. The core is prestressed to have a linear characteristic. As shown (Fig. 2) the core 7 is held clamped in an aperture 2 in a block 1 having slots 3, 4 which leave resilient sections 8, 9 so that the core 7 is affected by the vertical component PN of a force P, and is not affected by the horizontal component PT 1 . Embodiments showing different application points of the force P are shown, including means for producing mechanical amplification of the force by extending the block in one direction to form a lever arm, and diagonal slots for a verticallymounted block 1.
