Abstract
759,573. Electric transducers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 9, 1954 [Sept. 17, 1953], No. 23111/54. Class 40(1) [Also in Group XL(c)] Frequency modulation of an oscillator having valves V1, V2 back-coupled from the cathode of the second valve V2 to the cathode of the first through a coupling L1, C1 series resonant at the mean frequency of the oscillator is produced by applying a quadrature phase voltage from the junction of L1, C1 to an input of the first valve V1 after amplitude modulation in a balanced modulator bridge circuit 15. An amplifier 16 may precede the bridge modulator, and an amplifier or cathode follower 17 may follow it. The bridge arms may be resistances, one of them a strain gauge sensing element, or if the sensing element is an inductance or condenser, the arms may contain positive or negative reactances, with or without resistances. Or the bridge may be any device with input and output terminals, adjustable from a condition giving null output, e.g. a differential transformer 25, Fig. 3, with pick-up movable winding 25b for detecting movement, e.g. of the free end of an aneroid.
