Abstract
655,366. Motor vehicle braking arrangement. PERROTT, P. H. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34638. Convention date, June 17, 1946. [Class 79 (v)] In a motor vehicle having a pair of wheels not connectable to the vehicle engine each wheel is con nected by a cardan shaft to a rotatable part of braking means rotatably supported by the sprung part of the vehicle. As shown the non-driving wheels 26 are each connected by the cardan shaft 24 to an axle 23 on which is located the hydraulically actuated brake 7. The axles 23 are carried by a bearing 21 secured to the vehicle engine 8. The driving wheels 28 are similarly connected by driving cardan shafts 29 to differential output shafts carrying hydraulically operated brakes. The brakes 7 for the front and rear wheels are connected by rigid piping to a master cylinder 1 actuated by a pedal 2. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also comprises embodiments in which either the driving or non-driving wheels are connected as above to hydraulically actuated brakes and the remaining wheels are braked mechanically. The mechanical and hydraulic brakes are actuated from a common control. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
