Abstract

654,545. Electric coils. ALLANSON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Aug. 11, 1948, No. 21199. [Class 35] [Also in Group XL (a)] In a deflecting coil arrangement the successive coils overlap in imbricated fashion, i.e. each coil extends over the adjacent coil at one side and under the adjacent coil at the other side. Four such coils, a, b, c, d are shown assembled for mounting round the neck of a cathode-ray tube. The longitudinal portion of each coil which overlaps the next coil has an inward set to bring it nearer the tube neck. A ferro magnetic yoke 16 surrounds the whole assembly, which may be slightly flared. All four coils may be identical, allowing maximum deflection sensitivity for both pairs.
