Abstract
653,662. Kinematograph apparatus. SHARPLES, N. A. May 7, 1948, No. 12583. [Class 97 (i)] In a projector head having a curved gate consisting of a pair of relatively movable guides pressing resiliently against the film edges, feed sprockets are arranged on the convex side of the gate near top and bottom thereof. As shown, the film is fed by a large sprocket 7, with pressure roller on a spring-loaded arm 10a to the gate 1 and thence to the sprocket 8 with pressure roller 9. The gate consists of two channel-members 2, 3, Fig. 2, the channels facing to define a film path. One member is fixed and one pivoted about an axis 4-4 and urged against the film edge by a spring (not shown). The channel walls are tapered away to allow the film to be pulled out of the guides if, due to the feed claw 6 engaging a damaged perforation, the lower film loop shortens as at F<SP>2</SP>. If the sprocket 7 engages damaged perforations the film is pulled back to the position F<SP>3</SP>.
