Abstract
680,353. Kinematograph apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., BOWEN, A., and BULLEID, D. L. Sept. 14, 1950 [Nov. 17, 1949], No. 29455/49. Class 97 (i). In a film gate wherein the film margins are held against spaced curved runners by tensioned flexible metal straps, both straps are connected, at one end of each, with member pivoted, to maintain equal tensions in the straps, to a member which is itself pivoted so that movement thereof changes the tensions of both straps simultaneously. In the form shown, the gate member 3 pivots forward for film-threading and carries runners 7. The metal straps 9 are carried on the fixed member 1 in which the projection aperture is formed. Each strap is secured at its lower end to a member 10 pivoted at 11, close to the film path, and urged away from the film as by a spring 19. At their upper ends the straps are secured by hooks 13 to a cross-bar 12 pivoted to a lever 14 itself pivoted in lugs 16 and acted on by a spring 18 under the head of an adjusting-screw 17. Apertured plates 5 secured to the member 1 assist cooling. U.S.A. Specification 1,943,366 is referred to.
