Abstract

776,697. Film gates. KODAK, Ltd. May 17, 1955 [May 17, 1954], No. 14207/55. Class 97(1) A gate for photographic film comprises an apertured plate 11 at one side of which is hinged mounted a platelike bracket 25 maintained when the gate is closed in spaced parallel relation to the plate 11, a pressure pad 45 loosely connected to the bracket and disposed between the latter and the apertured plate, a cantilever spring 50 connected to the bracket on the outer side thereof and engaging its free end with the pressure pad to apply pressure thereto, and manually adjustable means for regulating the pressure applied by said spring. As shown the plate 11 has rails 13 for supporting the film margins. It carries fixed guides 21 for one film edge, the other edge being guided by the upturned ends 15, projecting through slots 14 of members beneath the plate urged to the left by a wire spring. The bracket 25 has an upturned finger piece 28 and two limbs, flanged at 27, by which it is hinged to pins carried by a block, not shown, beneath a spring 35 with portions 38a bearing on the flanges 27. The spring is also flanged at 40 to assist location of the bracket 25. Movement of the bracket 25 towards the plate 11 is limited by a stud 42 on the bracket. The pressure plate 45 is caried on studs 49. The upper end of the spring plate 50 is stepped inwards to bear on the pressure plate while the lower end is secured to the bracket 25 by the screw 53 which is adjustable to vary the spring pressure.
