Abstract

653,470. Foundry plant. RONCERAY, R. A. M. July 21, 1948, No. 19518. Con. vention date, April 23. [Class 83 (i)] In a continuous moulding process in which the various operations are carried out at stations along an endless conveyer, the formed moulds are automatically stripped and carried away on a second conveyer arranged at an angle to the first, while the patterns are carried back to the starting point on the first conveyer. A number of supporting plates such as 2, 3, 4 are moved automatically along an endless roller conveyer 1, past racks 5 for storing patterns such as 6, 7, 8, a selected one 8 of which is shown fixed by known means on a plate 4. The plates then pass a rack 9 for storing moulding-boxes, which are placed on the plates around the patterns and carried to a position as at 10, where the box is filled with sand from a hopper 14 by way of a shaking and sifting device 11. At the next station the box is subjected to the action of a vibrating device 16 mounted beneath the conveyer, additional sand being added from a hopper 17 if necessary. After a final pressing the box passes beneath a third sand hopper 19 and then into a rotary cage 21 which is rotated to invert the box or flask after which the supporting plate and its attached pattern are lifted from the mould by hooks 22. The mould is removed by a transverse conveyer 25 and the cage is again rotated so that the plate and pattern can continue along the conveyer 1. Sand is supplied to the hoppers 14, 17 and 19 by a conveyer belt 26, scrapers 27 and 28 serving to deflect sand from the belt into the first two hoppers.
