749,831. Moulding-machines. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. May 24, 1954 [Feb. 24, 1953], No. 5177/53. Class 83 (1). In shell-moulding, the pattern is moved stepby-step in a closed path through a sequence of process-stages including an oven, is invested at one station with a measured quantity of moulding mixture falling on to it from a hopper, and at another station is inverted to .release surplus mixture into another receptacle. Pattern-plates 7, rotatable in bearings 6 and supporting patterns 8, are carried on a rotary, step-by-step table, through an electric heating- oven 10, to a station E where cured moulds are ejected by pins actuated by a pedal-operated plunger beneath the table, thence to a station F where they are sprayed with parting fluid, and an open-ended flask 17 is fitted. At a station G, a predetermined quantity of mould-mix is deposited in the flask from a hopper 19. The station H is idle for allowing the shell to form, and at station I the pattern is inverted, allowing the excess mix to fall into a receptacle. The flask may fall off at this stage and the pattern be returned to its normal position, or both these operations may be performed at station J. The pattern-plate and shell then pass through the oven for curing the shell. The oven may be divided into several thermostatically-controlled zones.
