Abstract

703,749. Moulding and core-making machines. POLYGRAM CASTING CO., Ltd. Sept. 22, 1950 [July 1, 1949], No. 13468/52. Divided out of 703,691. Class 83 (1) Foundry moulding and core-making apparatus comprises an intermittently rotated table carrying patterns in a circular path past heating means and past a container from which mouldable material is supplied to the patterns. The mouldable material may be of the kind described in Specification 703,691 which sets on coming into contact with the surface of a heated pattern. The table is mounted in a support a so as to be rotatable either by a handle e or mechanically and carries a number of supports for pattern plates b. About three-quarters of the table is surrounded by a casing c and cover d enclosing means for heating the pattern plates. Adjacent the uncovered portion of the table is a container f mounted at one end of a link k which is rotatable about an axis i. By means of a fork h, the pattern plate which is opposite the container may be swung about the axis i so as to be inverted over the top thereof and after clamping the container and pattern by a hook l, the container is inverted for a time sufficient for a layer of the mouldable material to adhere to the pattern, after which both the container and the pattern are returned to their original positions. The pattern plate then passes again through the casing c, d wherein the layer or mask is heated and completely hardened ready for removal from the pattern.
