Abstract
664,598. Foundry plant; moulding-machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SHERWEN, J. W. Jan. 23, 1950 [Jan. 21, 1949], No. 1773/49. Class 83 (i). Apparatus for removing a casting from its sand mould comprises a vibratory conveyer to which the mould is transferred, said conveyer having means for supporting the flask but allowing the sand and casting to be shaken out on to means for supporting the casting but separating the sand. The poured moulds are carried by a belt conveyer 10, Fig. 4, transferred by a pneumatic pusher 13 on to rails 30, 31 of a vibratory conveyer 11 with electromagnetic mountings 16, 17 of a known type. As the flask travels to the right the castings travel on bars 34 and perforated plates 35, 36 to a lower level, the sand falling through. Pushers 15 transfer the flasks back on to the belt 10. Electric control contacts may be arranged to operate the pushers automatically. In a modification, the rail 31 is replaced by a rail 45, Figs. 5 and 7, carried by a plate 46 urged towards the belt 10 by springs 47 so that flasks of different widths are accommodated by the flask pushing the rail 45 back when it is transferred by the pusher 13. As the mould travels to the right it passes over an opening 40, which allows the sand and casting to fall out, and then the flask alone passes along bars 42 until returned to the belt 10 by the pusher 15. The sand and castings fall on to screens 49 through which the sand falls while the castings travel to the right on bars 50.
