[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] The ratio of synchronizing to picture signal is increased by feeding the composite signal to the cathode of valve 6 biassed to conduct only during the negative-going synchronizing signals S so that an amplified version appears across resistor 5. The magnitude of the amplification may be varied by adjusting resistor 5. The circuit may be fed from a cathode follower, Fig. 2 (not shown).
