Abstract

785,820. Radio receiving apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 28, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1954], No. 30892/55. Class 40 (5). In a chrominance circuit comprising a chroma amplifier 3, Fig. I, demodulator 4 and amplifier 6, the amplifier is given a frequency response which is the complement of the response of band-pass circuit in the chroma amplifier to provide a substantially linear response. The chrominance signals applied to amplifier 9, Fig. 2, pass through band-pass coupling 10 giving at point A a response as in Fig. 3. The signals are fed from potentiometer 16 to demodulators 20, 23 and to the colour burst gate 15 which in turn supplies signals to the demodulators. The output from discharge tube 20 is fed through a carrier-filtering and peaking network 25 to the amplifier 29 where the response is as curve B. Since the amplifier 29 has a characteristic C the resulting output curve D is substantially linear.
