[Also in Group XL(c)] In a television receiver for the reception of either a monochrome transmission or a colour transmission of the sub-carrier type (e.g. the N.T.S.C. or modified type), a filter L1, Cl tuned to the sub-carrier frequency is arranged automatically to be connected in the circuit of the video amplifier V in response to the reception of colour sub-carrier synchronizing signals, with the object of removing "dot patterning" in saturated colour areas, by means of a rectifier Z which is rendered conducting by a potential applied through resistor R1 from a point in the chroma circuits (e.g. the synchronous demodulator or "colour killer") which becomes positive when the circuits are fully operative in response to sub-carrier synchronizing signals. Typical circuit values are given.
