Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the effective correction for the detail information of the lost luminance signal and the improving effect of the picture quality only when the detail information of the luminance signal exists simultaneously at the colored pattern part, by giving the control to the amplitude of the high-band frequency component of the luminance signal in accordance with the chroma. CONSTITUTION:The luminance signal passed through carrier chrominance signal suppressing circuit 2 and delay circuit 3 is isolated for the low and high frequency components through low- and high-band filters 4 and 5 each. And the low frequency component is applied directly to adder circuit 10; while the high frequency component is applied to gain control circuit 7 as well as to waveform shaping circuit 11. The high frequency component of the luminance signal applied to circuit 7 undergoes the gain control with the control signal applied to terminal 9 and then applied to circuit 10 to be added with the low frequency component. The high frequency component of the luminance signal which received the waveform shaping at circuit 11 is applied to one input terminal of AND circuit 12; while the detection signal according to the chroma of the picture which is detected at chroma detecting circuit 8 is applied to the other terminal from chrominance signal circuit 6. And the AND signal of both signals is applied to control terminal 9.
