Abstract

In an improvement in the invention of the parent Specification, bismuth is added to a molten cast iron before, during or after the addition of cerium, in such amount as to result in a cast iron containing 0.005-0.3 per cent of bismuth. The bismuth may be added in the form of an alloy with copper or nickel containing 5-50 per cent by weight of bismuth.
