Abstract

652,256. Vaporizers; auxiliary air admission. POTTER F. J:. SHEARING. A. C., (trading as BROWNE & SON ENGINEERS), BROWN. A. and SWALES, J. Nov. 10, 1947, No. 29886. [Classes 7(ii) and 7(iii)] Exhaust gases flowing through a vaporizer A comprising a casing attached to the exhaust manifold D and forming the sole connection between the exhaust manifold D and the exhaust pipe F, heat the combustible mixture from a carburetter H flowing through a pipe G in the vaporizer leading to the intake manifold J, and a valve is positioned between the vaporizer A and the exhaust pipe F to control the exhaust flow through the vaporizer. Extra air may be added to the mixture in the intake pipe through a pipe L under the cotnrol of a piston valve R actuated by engine suction. The extra air may also be controlled by a throttle valve arranged to open when .the. main throttle valve has been partially opened.
