Abstract

A process for the production of magnesium base alloys containing zirconium in which the introduction of the zirconium is effected by means of a compound or mixture containing fluorides of zirconium and potassium, the rates of the zirconium fluoride to potassium fluoride exceeding that in K2ZrF6. The two fluorides may be present in approximately equimolecular proportions. The mixture may also contain calcium fluozirconate. Specifications 511,137, 511,482, 533,264, 652,224, 652,227 and 26438/39 (as open to inspection under Sect 91), are referred to.
